I don’t want to call this “Picture of the Day” because I don’t want to commit to a picture a day.

Tonight was game 4 of the NBA finals. LA Lakers vs. Orlando Magic in Orlando. Here are a few photos from my cell phone cam.

Clever marketing by the sports channels

Huge Magic banner on the tragic 55W building

EA Sports was giving away capes to support “Superman” Dwight Howard. Also, Drake’s Superman shirt has Howard’s name and number on the back.

No idea what this was about. I guess I could Google it . . .

All this excitement and hype is good for Orlando, so I say “Go Magic!”

This poem, on the back of my NYC Metrocard:

Ah, love, let us be true
To one another! for the world, which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.

excerpt from Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold

Awesome.

It’s like the transit system is telling us that we’re on our own. That the subway is a scary place. I can’t think of many public agencies that would put something like that out without worrying about “negative spin”.

I liked their cake hats.

From Universal Studios’ Mardi Gras parade in Orlando, Florida. We have annual passes and go all the time. This year we’ve seen Kelly Clarkson and the Village People, and have gotten to ride on two floats – The one with the giant bull and the riverboat.

People beg for beads, and get so excited when you make eye contact and attempt to throw some beads to them. Powerful feeling of superiority. “I have the beads! Beg, BEG, tiny peasants!”
